The first Baron Clearvale was given the Clearvale valley as a reward for services rendered during the Titan War.

Initially the Baron had intended to just retire in that area. The presence of the Plains of Lede to his north and the forays of Orcs seeking revenge for the loss of their masters forced him to initially raise a personal body guard and then the beginnings of a personal army.

The few farmers, merchants and woodsmen that lived in the area soon started to base their operations near his lands to benefit from the protection of his forces. The merchants and farmers initially helped to pay for the upkeep and equipping of the forces by means of voluntary informal agreements for payments of goods or money.

Eventually, as the community grew, the Baron formalised these agreements by legalising the entire arrangement, turning the payments into taxes and founding the town of Clearvale, beginning with the restoration of clearvale_keep.

The initial group of merchants, farmers and woodsmen who had contributed voluntarily to the upkeep of the Baron's forces before were given titles and became the nobility.

The current Baron Clearvale, in his mid thirties, is still plagued by the problems with the nobles from two generations ago. Luckily though, while there are still problems with the orcs, he does not need to fear overly for the survival of the valley.

It seems though that the mostly peaceful reign is about to encounter a rather large challenge.

He is currently engaged, and plans to be married before the end of the year.
